Shane and his team presented a poster that explained his business and how they plan to expand in the future. The story of the idea of how Z Beans started is very interesting. Shane went to Ecuador on a Mercer on a Mission trip and met with local coffee farmers that didn't really have an outlet to mass sell their coffee beans. With this being said, Shane found his company to help these farmers in Ecuador by selling their coffee beans in the United States and giving these farmers more profits then they could ever imagine. He has been a success story for Mercer University and now he has grown his business to where many other businesses and people want to use his product. From personal experience, Z Beans coffee is one of the better tasting coffees, that one can get on the market.
Shane Buerster said, "I have really enjoyed the process of starting my own business, and it has taught me a lot of things about businesses that I didn't already know."
This Award ceremony took place on April 5th at 4:00 pm. This event honored many students that are at the top of their class for their individual measures. These students have dedicated a lot of their time to making sure they do well on all of their tests, homework, and projects. They have gone above and beyond what was expected of them to succeed in their academics. All the academic departments were represented at the convocation and many students recieved honors awards for their achievements.
Alex Hanson said, "It was nice to be rewarded the Outstanding Senior in the IST department, because I have put in a lot of work and dedication during my years in school."
