Reading

Reading is another great hobby for when you are stuck at home. My mother is an English teacher, and I inherited my love of reading from her. My favorite places to read are by the pool or at the beach. Click any of my favorite books below for more information.

Gardening

I know that plants can seem rather boring, but since I am stuck at home I have started caring for the plants in and around my mother's house. I did my project on house plants and their benefits, but I thought I would go ahead and add it to my new hobbies page too. Gardening gives me something to do that doesn't involve staring at a screen and it provides plenty of reasons to go outside. The pictures below are the four types of house plants I own.

Cooking/Baking

Now that I am home, I have access to my mother's wonderful kitchen, and I have been cooking at least one of our meals every day since I got back. I haven't been able to experiment much because we are trying to limit our trips to the grocery store, but here are the links to recipes for three of my favorite foods to cook:

Gruyère is one of my favorite cheeses and I like being able to use frozen spinach with this recipe.

I tried this recipe with my roommates earlier this semester and will definitely be making it again!

I typically make ramen using whatever proteins and veggies we have and season accordingly, but I have made something similar to this recipe with chicken.
