Willow Stuckey's Project Proposal

Description

What will this website do?

This informational website will explain the benefits of keeping plants in the house/dorm and educate those who may not be that good at keeping plants but want to try it out. I would like to do multiple pages and use css to maintain a theme but have different layouts. There will be 5 sections:
1. my plants and a little about me
2. a list and care guide of hardy and high oxygen producing plants followed by a quiz to make a recommendation from the list
3. information on the benefits (research and my own opinons)
4. inexpensive ways to get started (even in self-quarantine)
5. sources cited

Rationale

Why am I doing my project on plants?

Keeping house plants is relatively inexpensive and a great hobby for someone stuck at home during the pandemic. It gets you outside on watering or re-potting days and plants improve air quality. My interest in plants started freshman year when I wanted to bring some life to my mildew-ridden dorm room. I took a clipping of my mother's pothos vine and somehow managed not to kill it. I have gotten four other plants since then and started taking care of my mother's when I moved back due to COVID-19 concerns.

Details

Who is my target audience?

People like me who want to liven up their space and find a new hobby but have a bad track record with plants.

How will I incorporate JavaScript?

I plan on making a short quiz that will recommend a plant based on someone's living situation and lifestyle. I have linked some websites that are similar to what I have in mind, and I will formally cite what I use in the project.

CSS - position:sticky

This article explains how position:sticky can be used in web design. I have attempted to use it in the past but couldn't get it to function the way I wanted.
