HTML
HTML is Hyper Text Markup Language, and is the most basic web design language. As the basis for most webpages it has a long history dating back several decades.
Web Design Trends 2020
Along with bold color, we think using color mindfully to evoke certain moods will be big in 2020. Color psychology, the study of color’s impact on human behavior, has been around for centuries and marketers have used it to help sell for nearly as long.
While the way we interpret colors has a lot to do with our own individual perceptions, there are some general feelings associated with colors. For example, green typically denotes nature and natural products while red symbolizes energy and passion.
In 2020, we think web designers will put even more focus on using color mindfully to evoke the mood(s) and feeling(s) a site is meant to elicit.
The 8 Biggest Web Design Trends 2020
In 2020, we’ll see wide frames of white space giving web designs a solid structure. By allowing each element on the page a generous amount of space, framing creates the perfect foundation for making visuals shine. Neatly structured frames around websites create a satisfying sense of order and help prioritize and separate all the different parts of a page.
CSS
CSS stands for Cross Site Scripting, and was created as a way to format and style pages with color, text options, and much more. It is used in virtually every webpage nowadays and is extremely versatile and useful for modern developers.
W3 CSS Trends
Since we might have reached the peak of flat design (with almost flat), many designers are expected to go for Material Design (Designed by Google in 2014).
Material Design uses elements that remind us of paper and ink. In addition the elements have realistic shadows and hover effects.
10 Best CSS Trends for 2019
Animations as a tool for engagement are increasingly popular. Websites will start to use more and more animated loading icons, page loads with limited design, etc. to keep the user’s attention.
An example of this from a popular website is YouTube. Open the YouTube mobile app and scroll through the videos. If you stop for a second, the video will autoplay with the sound off and show captions.
JavaScript
JavaScript is a derivative of the Java language. It is focused on scripting versus object oriented programming, and is extremely useful for animation and advanced features of modern webpages.
Top JavaScript Trends 2020
If the 2010s were the decade of JavaScript, then 2019 was arguably the year of TypeScript. The superset of JavaScript was chosen as the third-most loved language in the Stack Overflow survey (behind Rust and Python) and many more developers have started using it when compared to 2018.
